April 2024

The DOOR!

This is the sliding door that is from my studio (converted garage) to the laundry/main house. I had the renovation done quite a few years ago but this door is 99% open and you cant see it.

Lately its been closed as Ive had the airconditioner on and it was just grey undercoat and grubby. I thought I should paint that while Im on leave as it looks disgusting. Then my little brain goes into overdrive and I dash for the red paint, slapping it on and loving every second. I filmed it incase it turned out ok and have been posting my progress on instagram love_evy1 if you want to see it.

Ive got to this stage and am wanting to add a few more flowers and some fine lines to finish it off, but this is it so far.

Other things I have been up to in April…

Collage packs for my workshops at Bribie Island.

So April has been very busy with lots of new projects and some fun things Im working on.

I hope you have been doing something arty crafty to soothe your soul.

100 day project

So this is a thing on instagram where you commit to doing something for 100 days running. Its widely popular and artists do loads of different things.

I decided on a small mixed media a day-yes a bit ambitious but I thought I’d start anyway.

Im up to day 22 and have only missed a weekend as I was away from home for 2 days, but I have carried on regardless.

You can follow on my instagram love_evy1

workshops at Bribie Island

This week in my studio……

The lovely Polly sleeping in the middle of my current project. She’s a bit of an attention seeker, pain in the waahzoo , but I love her to bits. Look at that cute brown face.

One of my favourite bits this week in a new mixed media piece called Laurel..

So I have a workshop this coming weekend at Bribie Island. I found a cute studio to hire and I am really looking forward to trialling my mixed media workshop. Its not beachfront but you can go to the beach after the workshop!

I will be creating more classes soon, so if you are not on my mailing list, please go to my website and subscribe so you will know when the next workshop is.

I hope to have half day and full day workshops…more on that soon.

Email me with any questions you may have.

Have a crafty Sunday friends.

This week in pictures

Lots of art work this week, a bunch of Valentine hearts for my Eumundi Market stall along with a bunch of cards for Valentines day, all original hand painted. Some walks around the lake with Ella, and the stunning sunset, breakfast at the beach with Remy. A painting class online with Cathy Nichols, Polly sitting on everything. Also some pics of things Id like to get my art on…wallpaper and cushions, these are Redbubble items with my Poppy print on them, just mocked up to see what it would look like. Also I am learning Surface Pattern Design with Cass Dellar and I entered a competition she holds inhouse for the students for a cushion design. I also entered a comp for Gorman Scrubs. I would love you to give me a vote …I have 5 patterns in there. https://gormanshop.com.au/pages/competition-voting

The winner will get to choose a hospital that will receive 300 sets of scrubs with the winning design on them and also $$$. I would love to see my designs on staff at our local hospital!

It’s pouring rain and cool and calm this morning which makes me happy and creative. I am off to paint while Im feeling so inspired.

January is almost gone….

Lets open with this brilliant coloured piece thats new to my collection for 2024 called “FAYE”

Why do I name my paintings like this? How do I choose a name for each one?

I get asked this at my markets a lot.

The answer is a little complex. I mostly draw flowers and palms, a lot of little vintage caravans and combis. What if I were to name them pink and orange flowers, blue and green palms, red and blue flowers, green combi, caravan with cat, caravan with wine glasses, you get the picture, but I have painted over 100 paintings in the past year and a half, yes, that is a lot. Some of them go in a drawer, some of them go in the bin, and some of them get to be photographed and printed, and put on my stall or website. These are the lucky ones that have my heart and soul in them and deserve a good name.

How do I choose a name? I do a little bit of association. or I just like the name and think it suits the painting. Heres some examples….

This is Audrey. It doesn’t look like Audrey Hepburn but it is glamorous, 1950-1960 fashion, her pose is full of confidence and she is beautiful.

Marlene! The oranges in this one made me think of marmalade, and then I find a close name to that word. The minute I see this painting, I see the orange, and immediately know its name.

This is Vivienne. At the time I finished this I had recently watched Pretty Woman ( for the 100th time lol) and the character played by Julia Roberts is Vivienne, I think she is lovely.

This one is new, it’s called Georgia. This is my nieces name and she had just been to visit from interstate. So Georgia it is!

Some paintings I just look at them and find a pretty name, I do prefer the old fashioned names, but whatever it is, it becomes a friend, and it helps me when I’m at market and to know what I need to order when I print.

6 weeks of school holidays are now over and Im back at work full time.

Markets at Eumundi will be every 2nd Saturday from yesterday, next one is 3/2/24. The times at Eumundi have slightly changed this year and are 7.30am-2pm.

You can check on my website www.yvettefanciulli.com markets tab to check details of where I am.

I have made some interesting goals for this year and one of them is to teach mixed media workshops in person and also online classes.

Currently I’m creating these, if you are interested, please let me know. email me yvettefanciulli@gmail.com

Have a creative day friends,

2024

This is my beloved Polly, in bed with me all week. I got sick new years eve with Bronchitis and have spent the first week of this year unwell, but Im on the mend and wanted to start to document 2024.

So far no art has taken place besides a couple of scribbles on my ipad.

Ive set myself some goals for this year and hope to keep myself accountable, they are not so high that it will stress me out, rather manageable things I know I can achieve that will make me happy.

I like to keep this blog as a record for myself, kind of like a diary of things I have done.

I don’t scrapbook anymore so this blog helps me to remember. I like to fill it with brightly coloured photos of my paintings and of my life, I want to make sure I live life in FULL COLOUR and when I scroll on my old blog posts over the years, its like flicking through an old scrapbook. So Im compelled to keep adding even though blogs seem out dated these days, I like to have one.

Im glad you are here reading and looking, thank you. Message me with your blog details if you have one, so I can read about you.

2024 GOALS

  • Finish SPD course (Surface Pattern Design)
  • have a large canvas on stretcher printed
  • hold mixed media classes
  • make my website more user friendly and updated
  • keep doing markets
  • make patterns
  • spend more time with my girls and my partner
  • spend more time with my family
  • See more shows and bands
  • only keep what makes me happy

Ok so some things are simple, but I want to remind myself of these things often and so its on my wall in my studio!

Hope you have some goals for this year too, without being unrealistic of course lol.

2023

Its been a big year of Markets and art making for me. I had my very 1st market at Eumundi on 1st April and have been consistently there once a fortnight, rain hail or shine.

Many trips to Bribie Island with Brad, the girls and a lot of times on my own.

Loads of painting and drawing.

Some interesting projects for School Wellness team and also some digital illustration for Eumundi Markets.

12 card designs with Blue Island Press.

Several market stalls at different locations. Etsy Made Local in Brisbane, Toowoomba Shed, What We Make Design Market in Bulimba and Home Collective.

Im pleased with my effort and hope to continue with lots of creative arty projects planned for 2024.

Teaching Classes is on the cards! Please contact me if you are interested in Mixed Media classes.

Hope you all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

December 2023

Bribie Island. If I need to destress, this is where I go. I’m on holidays until late January now, and will be spending quite a bit of time here.

A round up of December. The weather has been crazy, hot, stormy, a cyclone up north and some lovely days as well.

We got a new PINK christmas tree I LOVE IT.

New totes in pink or white with my digital illustration for Eumundi markets.

My magpie family have been visiting and warbling a lot since I’m not at work.

Ive been doing extra Eumundi markets. Wednesday and Saturday.

I had a trial cup printed with my digital art. Colours are gorgeous.

Behind the scenes I have started a Surface Pattern Design Course.

Thats about it for this month.

Happy Christmas

paused ?

A stall at the Artisan Market A Place To Create on Sunday.
View from my bed when I wake up. I especially love it when the sun shines through the front glass and my IXXI -BRIONI is lit up like this.
I tried my hand at some painted pots, this one for Ellas room to go with her art “THE ELLA”
yes my studio in all its glory! I think I work better amongst chaos.
The wellbeing project I took on with staff from my work creating 40 single canvas boards to create one large piece for the Library at the school I work at.
Black pen in my journal.

Digital illustrations I created for The Original Eumundi Markets for their totes, and Christmas postcards.

I titled this post Paused as I feel like the whole of November I have been laying around the house and not being productive but when I started to look for some images to add here, it was extensive…and this is only a small look at what I have been up to lately. I will be off to work now and feel very accomplished for November so far! LOL!!!
